You’ve probably already had the chance to enjoy the Therapy store on Castro street. It’s been here about 9 years, but have you stopped by the new Therapy Home store that is just across the street? It’s full of interesting, unique, one-of-a-kind furniture, home decor accessories, and gift items.Chris Rosetti, the store manager, is passionate about the merchandise and showed me around the store when I stopped by this week to catch up on the buzz. The main category in the store is definitely furniture and the sofas are something special. You can customize them by ordering from a wide variety of sizes and a huge selection of fabrics. Many customers have questions about finding fabrics that work for a family with children and pets, and Therapy Home definitely has you covered. There are probably close to 200 different fabrics available right now, and new swatches are always being added to the mix.The sofas are all made in Los Angeles, which is cool. Their manufacturing company was one of the first to voluntarily eliminate using the toxic flame retardant chemicals that are linked to cancer. Now there are laws in place that prevent those chemicals from being used in California, but I like the idea that this was one of the first to do it and that they did it voluntarily. The wood used in the sofas is alder wood and it's very sustainable.
There are also amazing vintage items, some beautiful leather pieces, and spectacular repurposed tables, desks, and lockers. The owners of Therapy frequent trade shows and visit vendors who manufacture the most unique items they can find. They bring us what they know we want and anything that they just really like. It's obvious the moment you walk in the store. While I was there, a customer was telling Chris, the store manager, that the new furniture store gives her “a reason to cross the street” now. And we all acknowledged the fact that we tend get stuck on a little route downtown and don’t always wander in and out of new places and explore. Don't get stuck in a rut! Cross the street please.
Therapy Home has an amazing selection of interesting art for your walls and also colorful, classic Pendleton and Woolwich wool blankets. There are tons of unique little gift items made by family-owned small U.S. based companies. The store, actually both the original Therapy (250 Castro Street) and the new Therapy Home store (275 Castro Street) are so interesting and definitely two of the first places you should go if you just moved to Silicon Valley and you’re trying to set-up your hip, new home. I love Mountain View.
