Holiday shopping is easy now that Savvy Cellar has their new gift cards. There are two types of gift cards - "in store" for anything in the store and "online" for the purchase of classes or even a 3 month wine club as a gift. I noticed that the “Wine Tasting for the Wine Challenged “class is being offered in late February. This is the most popular class that Savvy Cellar offers and it sells out early every time. I took it a few months ago and loved it. I no longer consider myself wine-challenged (well, maybe just a little) and it was nice to meet other people that live nearby. The current menu includes a selection of “Holiday Bubbles” and a new “Bucket List” of premium items. I like the idea of someone suggesting items for me to try before I kick-the-bucket.
I’m going to a private special event at Savvy Cellar tonight. Since the building isn’t very large, it feels really friendly and home-town comfortable. When you’re at a private event there and know everyone around you, it feels really nice. It would be a great location for a small wedding, birthday party or company party.
Savvy Cellar opened in Mountain View last spring in the building that is a reproduction of our original train depot from 1888. If you haven’t been inside this cozy, hip wine bar, you really need to check it out. I really enjoy having a glass of wine with friends and the excitement of the trains passing by. This adorable building sat empty for 7 or 8 years and I find it very satisfying that such a perfect business has finally opened in it. I just love Mountain View.
