Expand Your Network: Join a Mountain View Business Referral Group

The Business Connexions group mentioned in a previous post has some openings. Only one person from any profession can join the group, that means one realtor, one accountant, one insurance agent, etc. so that one person becomes the one trusted partner of everyone in the group. This particular group meets at the Chamber of Commerce on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.

It’s a bring-a-bag lunch meeting, from 11:30-12:30 in the Chamber of Commerce boardroom at 580 Castro Street. Guests and visitors can attend 2 meetings (without joining) to check them out to see if it’s a good fit. This group is the perfect way to meet other small business owners, expand your network and exchange leads and referrals. The members learn about each other’s business and what a quality referral is for everyone.

They have guest speakers (like me) who share relevant information with the group. I gave them 11 of my favorite social media tips and Maria Marroquin, founder of the Mountain View Day Worker Center is the guest speak for January.

I asked the co-chairs of the group what kinds of professionals would be good candidates for the group. They were happy to share the list and here it is. They’re currently recruiting an immigration attorney, a handyman, a plumber, an electrician, a general contractor, a structural engineer, a landscape architect, a lender, and an interior designer.

If you know anyone who wants to grow their local network and meet other business owners, please forward this article to them.

Joining the Business Connexions group is included in your Chamber membership. We all try to make as many connections as possible on LinkedIn and Facebook, but those relationships aren't always as productive for your business, or as a personal connection, compared to the trust you build when you network face-to-face. Dedication, trust and loyalty to the group are part of it.

You are free to drop-in to learn more about the group. New members are approved by the entire group. Yes, there are other networking groups in the area, but the price of this one is included in your Chamber membership, and there are no fees or penalties for not attending the meetings.
