Here’s a snapshot of the Autonomous Vehicles companies that featured at this year’s Tech Showcase:

Waymo started as the Google self-driving car project in 2009. Our mission is to make it safe and easy for people and things to get where they’re going. From moving people to moving goods, we’re taking autonomous driving to new places. Our mission is big and our work has the potential to transform lives. We couldn’t do what we do without the partnership of the local community, including right here in Mountain View where we are headquartered. Speaking on the panel for Waymo is Noelle Duong, the Government and Community Relations Manager. Noelle said "The Mountain View Chamber of Commerce is bringing the community together to discuss and enjoy technology at their 6th Annual Tech Showcase. I am delighted to speak on the autonomous vehicles panel to connect with Mountain View neighbors and discuss the Waymo Driver."

Aurora

Aurora’s mission is to deliver the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly, and broadly. Self-driving technology will change the world and radically transform transportation—making mobility more accessible for all, getting crucial goods where they need to go, and most importantly—saving lives. Aurora was founded in 2017 by three of the world’s leaders in self-driving—who together bring decades of experience from Google’s self-driving team, Uber, and Tesla. Today, Aurora has over 1600 employees across 8 cities, including Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Mountain View, Bozeman, and the Dallas and Seattle metro areas.

In Mountain View and the Bay Area, Aurora partners with local school districts and community organizations to inspire and support the next generation of STEM leaders. During the pandemic, Aurora donated devices to local students for remote learning and sponsored a program to create take-home science experiment kits for elementary students. Aurora’s JumpStart Program, in partnership with Women Back to Work, helps recruit and hire returners—professionals who come back to build their careers after an extended break. Speaking on the panel for Aurora is Sydnee Journel, the Government Relations Manager. “We’re excited to call Mountain View home, and committed to not only building a better future powered by self-driving technology, but to making a difference in our communities. We’re looking forward to sharing more about our self-driving trucks and vehicles with the Mountain View community!”

Nuro is a robotics company transforming local commerce through autonomous delivery on public roads. Its self-driving vehicles are designed to drive in neighborhoods and enable local businesses to provide delivery of goods and services to their communities. Since the vehicles are specifically designed to only carry goods, they prioritize the safety of others and help prevent pedestrian fatalities on the road. On a mission to better everyday life through robotics, Nuro delivery services based on a zero-occupant electric autonomous vehicles can help by: drastically reducing the cost of local delivery; freeing up individuals’ time; improving neighborhoods with safer drivers, vehicle design, and zero-emissions creating a long-lasting regional benefits for all.

Speaking on the panel for Nuro is Dan Mitchell, who runs the City and Community Engagement. “The way we go about getting local deliveries today is unsustainable. Whether it is a personal trip to the store or utilizing a delivery service; the number of crashes, environmental emissions, cost to local business, and lack of affordable access hurts our community. That’s why Nuro is building its fleet of zero-occupant electric autonomous vehicles - developing long-term solutions to issues our neighborhoods are facing.”
